This equipment integrates mechanical loading,high-temperature environment control, and computer control.During operation, attention must be paid to mechanical safety,high-temperature safety, electrical safety, and standardized operation.
I.Core Safety Principles.
Certified Operators:Operators must be trained and familiar with the standards, instrument principles, software operation, and emergency response plans.
Personal Protective Equipment:Personal protective equipment must be worn correctly throughout the experiment.
Focus on Operation:While the equipment is running, leaving the operator's post or engaging in other distractions is strictly prohibited.
Pre-inspection System:A safety inspection must be conducted before each experiment.
II.Pre-operation Safety Check.
1.Environmental Check:
The laboratory floor should be level, clean, and free of oil and water.
Sufficient space should be left around the equipment, free of clutter.
Good ventilation is required(especially in the constant temperature water bath area, where heat will be emitted).
2.Instrument Status Check:
Mechanical Parts:Check that the upper and lower pressure heads are clean, aligned, and free from severe wear.Check that there are no obstructions around moving parts such as the movable beam and loading frame.
3.Fixtures:Ensure the flow meter is securely installed and aligned.
4.Constant Temperature Water Bath:Check that the water level and temperature(usually 60℃)have reached the set valuesand are stable.Check that the circulation pump is working properly.
5.Electrical and Computer:Check that all power cords and data cables are securely connected.Turn on the computer and controller power, preheat the instrument, and check that the software and hardware communication is normal. The emergency stop button must be functional and clearly located.
III.Safety Operating Points.
Specimen Placement Safety
Before testing, ensure the Marshall specimen is centered on the loading platform, and that the clamps and indenter are properly installed.Avoid slippage or eccentric loading during the loading process.
1.Risk of High-Temperature Burns(from the constant-temperature water bath and specimens)
Wear heat-resistant gloves when handling specimens.
Use dedicated clamps or trays when transferring high-temperature specimens.
Specimens and indenters that have just been tested are still hot;do not touch them immediately.
2.Risks from Mechanical Compression and Moving Parts
When installing specimens:After placing the specimen into the lower indenter, ensure that your hands and other body parts are completely away from the loading area before activating the"Lower"or"Load"button.
During equipment operation:Never put hands, head,or any tools into the loading frame's range of motion. No one should stand under or behind the loading frame.
Flow meter:Handle the flow meter with care during installation and removal to prevent it from falling and damaging or injuring fingers.
3.Electrical and Control System Safety
Equipment must be reliably grounded to prevent leakage.
Do not operate the control panel or computer with wet hands.
In case of any abnormality(such as unusual noise, jamming, smoke,or software malfunction),immediately press the"Emergency Stop"button, then turn off the main power supply and report to maintenance.
Non-professionals must not disassemble the electrical box or modify control system parameters.
4.Risk of Specimen Fracture and Splashing
Some mixtures may experience brittle fracture under ultimate load, producing fragments.
Safety glasses or face shields must be worn at all times.
IV.Do not touch moving parts during operation.
Do not put your hands into the loading area or touch the displacement rods or sensors during the test to avoid injury or affecting test data.
V.Avoid overloading.
Do not exceed the equipment's rated load, otherwise it may damage the sensors or deform the loading structure. Before the test, confirm that the test parameters are set correctly.
VI.Keep the equipment clean and dry.
The controller, computer interface, sensors, and other electrical components must be kept dry and clean to prevent asphalt, dust,or moisture from entering and causing short circuits or errors.
VII.Disconnect power promptly after the test.
After completing the test, shut down the software, controller, and disconnect the main power supply.Simultaneously, tidy up the loading frame and test specimens to extend the equipment's service life.
VIII.Regular maintenance.
Regularly lubricate moving parts such as the lead screw and guide rails according to the manual's requirements, and check all fasteners for looseness.
