Concrete Cube Splitting Tensile Strength Test Fixture

Model: TD560-J

I. Product Introduction

The Concrete Cube Splitting Tensile Strength Test Fixture is designed and manufactured by our company in accordance with JTG E30-2005, Standard Test Methods of Cement and Concrete for Highway Engineering, specifically T0560-2005, Test Method for Splitting Tensile Strength of Cement Concrete Cubes.

Reference Standards: EN 12390-6:2023, ASTM C496/C496M, ISO 1920-4:2020

II. Test Principle and Specimen Requirements

The splitting tensile strength test of concrete is performed using a cube specimen. A uniformly distributed compressive load is applied along the central plane of the specimen, generating an approximately uniform tensile stress along the vertical plane of loading. The tensile stress can be calculated based on elastic theory.

In China, a 150 × 150 × 150 mm concrete cube is used as the standard test specimen.

The Concrete Cube Splitting Tensile Test Fixture is available in two configurations. One configuration is designed for splitting tensile strength testing of 150 × 150 × 150 mm standard concrete cube specimens, as well as 100 × 100 × 100 mm non-standard cube specimens.

III. Technical Specifications

1) Dimensions (L × W × H): 250 × 210 × 220 mm

2) Net weight: 14.5 kg

3) Compatibility: Universal type; suitable for use with universal testing machines and presses from various manufacturers

4) Specimen size: Accommodates cubic specimens with side lengths of 100 mm and 150 mm

IV. Test Procedure

1. Use standard cubic specimens with a side length of 150 mm, or non-standard cubic specimens with a side length of 100 mm. Each test group shall consist of three specimens.

2. Steel curved bearing strips shall be installed between the testing machine and the specimen. Wooden plywood bearing strips shall be placed between the steel strips and the specimen. The plywood strips shall be 15–20 mm wide and 3–4 mm thick. The length of both types of strips shall be no less than the side length of the specimen. The wooden plywood strips shall not be reused.

3. Test Procedure

1. Inspect the appearance of the specimen and measure its dimensions.

2. Mark the splitting plane on the top and bottom surfaces of the specimen as cast.

3. Position the specimen, steel curved bearing strips, and wooden plywood strips. Align the axis of the specimen with the center of the lower platen of the testing machine. The bearing strips shall be perpendicular to the top surface of the specimen as cast.

4. Loading: When the compressive strength of the specimen is below 30 MPa, the loading rate shall be 0.02–0.05 MPa/s. When the compressive strength is 30 MPa or higher, the loading rate shall be 0.05–0.08 MPa/s. When the specimen approaches failure and deformation increases rapidly, stop adjusting the testing machine's loading control and continue loading until the specimen fails. Record the maximum load, with the result reported to 0.01 MPa.

V. Product Features

1. Designed specifically for concrete cube splitting tensile strength testing.

2. Suitable for both 150 mm standard and 100 mm non-standard concrete cube specimens.

3. Universal design for use with different compression testing machines and universal testing machines.

4. Robust steel construction provides stable support and reliable load transmission during testing.

5. Compact structure and convenient installation make it suitable for routine laboratory testing.

6. Designed according to the requirements of the specified concrete splitting tensile strength test method.
