I.Product Introduction

The adhesion tester is designed and manufactured according to the requirements of the"Test of Curing Time of Emulsified Asphalt Slurry Mixture"(T0754-2000)in the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China standard JJ052-2000"Test Procedures for Asphalt and Asphalt Mixtures in Highway Engineering".It is a specialized instrument used to determine the degree of adhesion between the emulsion and aggregate,and to determine the time for traffic to be opened after the slurry seal is applied.It is a key piece of equipment in the mix proportion test of emulsified asphalt slurry seal mixture.

III.Instructions for Use

1.Carefully read the test methods and procedures related to the experiment.

2.Prepare the test specimens and place them on the instrument's worktable.

3.Plug in the power cord.

4.Attach a wrench to the upper end of the cylinder piston rod.

5.Insert the connecting pipe into the air inlet.

6.Use an air pump or air compressor to pressurize the air through the inlet pressure regulating valve.

7.When the pressure at the exhaust port of the air pump or air compressor is maintained at around 0.72 MPa,pull out the pressure regulating valve knob and slowly adjust the outlet pressure of the pressure regulating valve to maintain the pressure on the pressure gauge of the instrument at 0.48 MPa(49 KG/CM2).

8.Press the knob and the start switch at the same time.The pressure head located above the specimen will slowly press down.

9.When the indenter is fully pressed against the sample surface,observe the pressure gauge reading again.If it is less than 0.48 MPa,pull out the pressure regulating valve knob again and adjust accordingly.Then maintain this pressure for 5-6 seconds.

10.Set the torque wrench to zero and place the wrench sleeve over the upper end of the cylinder piston rod.Smoothly and horizontally twist the torque wrench by 90 to 120 degrees within 0.7 to 1 second.Record the torque reading and the corresponding time.This reading is the bonding force of the specimen.

11.Turn off the start switch.The pressure head will rise automatically.At this time,you can wipe the bottom surface of the pressure head clean.Repeat steps 5 to 7 every 15 minutes until the torque no longer increases.

IV.Precautions

1.The above test methods are only applicable to the requirements specified in the"Curing Time Test of Emulsified Asphalt Slurry Mixture(T0754-2000)"of the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China standard JTJ052-2000"Test Procedures for Asphalt and Asphalt Mixtures in Highway Engineering".

2.If testing is required according to the requirements of the People's Republic of China industry standard CJJ66-95,the working pressure of the pressure gauge must be maintained at 0.49 MPa(5.0 KG/CM2).For specific test methods,please refer to standard CJJ66-95.

3.For ease of testing,it is recommended to use an air compressor as the air source,but the compressor's exhaust pressure must be less than 0.8 MPa(suitable specifications are 0.7 MPa~0.8 MPa,with a power of around 1.5 kW).The air compressor comes with a 6 mm orФ8 mm quick-connect nylon exhaust pipe.

4.An air filter(filter element size of 40mm or larger)and a pressure gauge(range greater than 1MPa)must be installed at the exhaust port of the air compressor tank.

5.The pneumatic circuit of the adhesion tester uses quick-connect pipe joints.If air leakage is found in the joint during the test,simply insert the pipe firmly into the joint.

6.After the test,pay attention to cleaning and maintaining the instrument to ensure it is clean and free of aggregate and asphalt.

7.During the test,strictly follow the operating procedures to ensure the smooth progress of the test.
