Products Description

A soil nucleus-free density meter is an instrument that uses non-radioactive technologies such as electromagnetic waves or ground-penetrating radar to measure the wet and dry density of soil. It can quickly obtain parameters such as soil compaction on site and is often used for quality testing in road, infrastructure and other engineering projects.

Non-Nuclear Soil Density Gauge

Model:LJLMP-1

I. Product Introduction

The soil density gauge (EDG) can measure the density, moisture content, and compaction degree of soil in roads and foundations. Its measurement accuracy mainly depends on the correct use by the operator.

II. Standards

ASTM D7830 / D7830M — Standard Test Method for In-Place Density (Unit Weight) and Water Content of Soil Using an Electromagnetic Soil Density Gauge

III. Main Functions

1.Measures the dry/wet density, moisture content, and compaction percentage of compacted soil.

2.Applicable to testing in engineering projects such as roadbeds, foundations, embankments, backfilling, and landfills.

IV.During the operation of EDG, some new technologies you need to be familiar with are introduced:

1.A soil model is a combination of electronic data of the soil and soil physical data input by the user.It is the basis for testing soil parameters in a similar soil characteristic zone.

2.When constructing a soil model,an EDG(Electronic Data Collection)instrument is needed to collect electronic signals at different test points(these test points are called soil tests). Each test point requires the collection of one electronic signal.Simultaneously,a sand cone test is needed to obtain the soil's wet density, dry density, and moisture content, among other physical properties. The maximum dry density of the soil is then measured in the laboratory. These data are then input into the instrument, thus linking the electronic and physical data.

3.At least three test points(soil tests)are required when making a soil model. The more test points, the more representative the soil model will be.Moreover, the wider the range of density and moisture content covered by the test points, the more accurate the soil model will be.

4.Once the soil model is made,EDG can be used for on-site testing. The test area is a region with the same physical characteristics as the soil being tested, which the experimenter prepares for testing.

5.Typically,a soil model is made for each different test area.Different projects require different soil models.Once the soil model representing the area is successfully made, the soil properties at any test point can be quickly and accurately determined by EDG through field testing.

6.The actual test is the calculation of soil physical properties by comparing electronic data collected at the test points with soil models.
